Welcome to Mana Precast
Wind power is a new type of clean, efficient and renewable energy that can be a good solution to the problem of energy consumption. Wind power has developed rapidly in recent years, and China's grid-connected wind power capacity is expanding.
Due to the increasing capacity of the wind turbines, the blades are getting longer and the height of the tower construction is getting higher and higher, which increases the total weight of the wind power tower, thus requiring the tower to have a better load-bearing capacity.
Hybrid towers refer to the concrete-steel hybrid towers used in wind power generation, which consist of two parts, the upper part using conventional steel tube sections and the lower part using concrete tube sections connected by a transition segment. The concrete section of the hybrid tower is made up of precast concrete elements that are spliced together to improve the overall bending capacity by passing through a pre-stressing system.
The general height of the hybrid tower is over 100 metres, with a maximum height of 180 metres. Its maximum diameter at the base is 11 metres, the minimum diameter at the top is 3 metres.
Currently, the most widely used steel structure tower is designed to meet the load-carrying capacity and stiffness requirements by increasing the diameter and wall thickness, which makes transportation and processing difficult and is unsuitable for taller tower cases.
The hybrid wind turbine tower is a new type of tower that combines the advantages of concrete and steel towers, allowing taller wind farms to be built and significantly reducing construction costs.
As wind turbine capacity per unit and tower height increase, the use of concrete towers increases. In particular, hybrid steel-concrete towers account for more than a third of the use for wind turbines over 140 metres in height.
